Amputee Aid is a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit with a national reach, dedicated to restoring hope, independence, and dignity for amputees who lack access to essential resources. We provide life-changing prosthetics, follow-up care, and holistic support to help individuals overcome the physical, emotional, and practical challenges of limb loss.

Our work is deeply personal. Amputee Aid was founded after a life-changing encounter between our founder—a Veteran and an amputee himself—and a ride share driver who also lived with limb loss. The driver shared that his prosthetic no longer fit, but without insurance, he could not afford a replacement. Despite working hard to support his family, he was losing mobility, hope, and the ability to provide. That moment revealed a painful truth: countless amputees across the country are struggling in silence, without access to the care they desperately need.

Amputee Aid was created to change that. There are over 2.3 million people living with limb loss in the United States, and the number is growing. Our services include:

1. Prosthetic Limb Assistance: Providing new or refurbished prosthetic limbs to individuals who are uninsured, underinsured, or facing financial hardship.
2. Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy Support: Connecting amputees with physical therapy resources to support recovery, mobility training, and prosthetic adaptation.
3. Peer Support and Counseling: Offering emotional support through peer mentoring, support groups, and mental health counseling to help amputees and their families adjust.
4. Advocacy and Public Awareness: Promoting disability rights, raising awareness about limb loss, and advocating for better healthcare policies and coverage for prosthetic care.
5. Resource Navigation and Financial Assistance: Helping amputees access transportation, housing modifications, job training, or financial aid for related medical and living expenses.
